The lights flickered and went out just as they finished cleaning the dishes. Luce turned to Cam. “Do we need to worry about the power going out?”

“Buster and Jeff will get the generators running to keep the freezers and other appliances on, and I don’t have much in my freezer. I doubt the power will be out for long. So we should be good unless you’re afraid of the dark.”

Luce smiled and grabbed the front of Cam’s shirt, pulling her close. “I think I can manage. Besides, I have a brave gator hunter to protect me.”

“I would protect you with my life.”

“I know you would.” Luce leaned in to kiss her. “Let’s go see what we can make bump in the dark.” She blew out one of the candles and took the other in her hand before reaching for Cam. “Lead the way.”

Cam entered the bedroom, took the candle from Luce, and placed it on the bedside table. She lifted the shirt over Luce’s head and tossed it toward the hamper. “I have missed you so much.”

“I’ve missed you too,” Luce said as she kicked off her shoes and removed her pants. “You have gotten me spoiled, sleeping next to you.”

Cam smiled. “I hope I can spoil you for many years to come.”

“Come here, you’ve got too many clothes on.”

Cam stepped forward and let Luce undress her. Her heart raced as Luce’s hands caressed her skin as she removed her clothing.

“There, that’s much better.”

Cam stepped forward and pressed Luce onto the bed before climbing in beside her. She brushed back the hair that fell across Luce’s face and looked into her eyes. “I’ve missed us.” She planted soft kisses across her lover’s face until she reached her lips. Luce parted them and Cam kissed her deeply as she moved on top of Luce. Luce’s hands stroked down her sides, cupping the cheeks of her ass as she rolled her hips into Cam, creating a slow rhythm.

Cam took her time enjoying every inch of Luce. She hungered for the woman she feared she had lost because of her own self-doubt. Every touch and taste felt right to her, and she used the night to remind Luce of the passion that burned inside her. She brought Luce to peak after peak of pleasure before collapsing on the bed beside her. The flame on the candle burned low as they listened to the rain pelting the tin roof.

“Where have you been storing that?” Luce rolled over to rest her head on Cam’s shoulder.

“It’s been waiting for your return. I’m so sorry I screwed up and hurt you by not trusting you.”

“Mamaw was quick to remind me that moonshine was a way of life for some in the swamps. My own pop was a ’shine maker when they first met during the Depression. I didn’t know that until this weekend.”

“It still doesn’t forgive my lack of trust in you.”

“That cannot be undone, but in time it can be forgiven. Mamaw came up with a solution to our legal dilemma.
